Nasra Dahir Mohamed is a dedicated researcher who has recently joined Rako Research and Communication Centre. With a background in social science research and program management, Nasra brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role. She has a proven track record of coordinating impactful programs, focusing on addressing social issues, culture, and politics in diverse contexts. Nasra excels in providing valuable assistance and expertise, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely delivery of results. She is currently working on two projects at Rako Research and Communication Centre: “Impact of Somali diaspora humanitarianism on foreign relations efforts in Mogadishu and Hargeisa” and “Examining Somali diaspora and international investment.” Nasra has collaborated with Ph.D. students from prestigious institutions such as PRIO, SOAS, UCL-PDU, King’s College, and SciencePo. Her exceptional computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365, NVIVO, Excel, and various communication and collaboration tools, bolster her ability to streamline processes and enhance project efficiency. She holds an MPhil in Public Policy from Riphah International University, Islamabad, Pakistan, and has completed various research and training programs, including those with the Rift Valley Institute and Open Society University Network Eastern Africa Research Hub. Nasra’s dedication and expertise make her a valuable addition to the research team at Rako Research and Communication Centre.

Current research engagement

As the Director of Rako Research and Communication Centre, Mohamed Aden Hassan is actively engaged in overseeing various research projects and managing partnerships with international organizations. He is particularly focused on projects that aim to address development challenges and promote effective governance practices. Mohamed’s role also involves ensuring the effective communication of research findings to a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers, practitioners, and the general public. Currently, Mohamed is focusing on the impact of Somali diaspora humanitarianism on foreign relations in Mogadishu and Hargeisa. Sureer’s research aims to understand the experiences, motivations, and roles of Somali diaspora humanitarianism and how they shape policies and practices in these areas.
