As the Research Grant Manager at Rako Research and Communication Centre, Jannie Smerup Nielsen is a dedicated professional with an MA in International Development Studies and Geography from Roskilde University, Denmark. With extensive experience in research grant management, Jannie excels in identifying funding opportunities, developing proposals, and managing grants effectively. Her strong organizational skills, coupled with a deep understanding of grant regulations and procedures, ensure compliance and successful project outcomes. Jannie’s commitment to the field is evident through her work with NGOs in Hargeisa and her academic research focusing on transnational NGO work. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Rako, contributing significantly to our mission of producing credible and impactful research outcomes.
She is currently working at Rako Research and Communication Centre, focusing on the impact of Somali diaspora humanitarianism on foreign relations in Mogadishu and Hargeisa. Sureer’s research aims to understand the experiences, motivations, and roles of Somali diaspora humanitarianism and how they shape policies and practices in these areas.
Sureer is using qualitative methods such as focus groups and interviews to gather data.
