Rako is an organization committed to providing high quality research.
We are a regional organization based in Hargeisa with extensive network and knowledge with the ability and capacity to develop research and communication strategies that have a lasting impact. Our main focus is to make local and regional important issues matter through research, dialogue and information sharing and give them the international significance they deserve. Rako wants to create a conducive environment that promotes the value and impact of scholarly research and communication
Vision
Rako’s vision is to make research relevant to the lives of the millions of East Africans. We do this by conducting field research and in collaboration with experts in their respective fields of work. Given this expansive and interdisciplinary approach to our work, we are encouraged to think creatively and provide knowledge and solutions that matter to people’s lives.
Mission
Rako’s mission can be broadly termed as follows:
- Conduct scholarly and policy research on social, economic, environmental, and communication matters;
- Share research outcomes of research through publication through holding events, presentations and media debates in multiple relevant languages and distributed on various platforms;
- Offer training and capacity building
